SMS Consent

Many organizations want to use SMS communication more actively. However, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) requires explicit opt-in from recipients to send SMS to personal devices in the US. Zelo now provides a solution to this.

Turn on SMS consent for your organization

There is a new option set for accounts that have the SMS channel turned on in the integration settings page. This lets you choose whether SMS consent is required or not. This option is turned off by default. Depending on your country, you can also choose to Whitelabel the sender name for SMS messages.

What happens when you turn it on?

When this setting is enabled, the system will not send SMS messages to the recipient without a one-time manual consent. All recipients will get a consent checkbox in their overview page preference settings and will need to actively opt-in to start receiving SMS.
